Description:
The NIH Transformative Research Awards complements NIH’s traditional, investigator-initiated grant programs by supporting individual scientists or groups of scientists proposing groundbreaking, exceptionally innovative, original and/or unconventional research with the potential to create new scientific paradigms, establish entirely new and improved clinical approaches, or develop transformative technologies. Little or no preliminary data are expected. Projects must clearly demonstrate the potential to produce a major impact in a broad area of biomedical or behavioral research.

Research Projects Related to Diabetes Care in Older Adults

Description:
The American Diabetes Association, with support from Eli Lilly and Company, is inviting applications for original and innovative translational and clinical research proposals focused on improving the evidence base and understanding of the goals, barriers, and effects of treatments and interventions (beneficial and adverse) in older adults with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

The aim of the initiative is to further identify the safest and most effective means of diabetes treatment for this population.

Translational and clinical research projects will receive a maximum of $550,000 over three years (no more than $200,000 per year in any one year, including indirect costs).

To be eligible, applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D., Pharm.D., D.P.M., or equivalent health- or science-related degree. In addition, applicants must hold full-time faculty positions or the equivalent at university-affiliated institutions or other nonprofit research and clinical institutions within the United States or one of its territories.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to solicit innovative social, behavioral, health services, and policy research that can directly and demonstrably contribute to the elimination of health disparities. Projects may involve primary data collection or secondary analysis of existing datasets. Projects that examine understudied health conditions; examine the effectiveness of interventions, services, or policies for multiple health disparity populations; and/or directly measure the impact of project activities on levels of health disparities are particularly encouraged. ADA and Lilly Clinical Research Award: Diabetes Care in Older Adults

Description:

 

Applications for clinical and translational research studies focused on improving the evidence base and understanding of the goals, barriers, and effects of treatments and interventions (beneficial and adverse) in the older adult population with type 1 and type 2 diabetes will be accepted. Prospective, patient-orients studies are preferred.

Each investigator must submit an independent research grant application using the American Diabetes Association online research application forms. The application deadline for the American Diabetes Association and Lilly Clinical Research Award: Diabetes Care in Older Adults is September 16, 2013, for funding beginning January 1, 2014.

This funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits Exploratory Research (R21) grant applications from organizations that propose to test and validate new methods involving research on patients with multiple chronic conditions (MCC).

 

With this FOA, AHRQ is investing in the adaptation, refinement or development of research methods that will enhance our understanding of how to provide high-quality health care for patients with MCC. Applicants must:

1. Propose an adaptation or refinement to existing methodology or propose the development of a new methodology for studying people with MCC

2. Validate and assess the proposed methodology
